06Ni9DR steel plate made in China has been successfully applied to the world’s largest LNG cryogenic tank Hay:A02ZXTG

Recently, the first 36mm thick LNG (liquefied natural gas) storage tank 06Ni9DR steel plate was successfully launched from the production line of ZXTG High Performance Steel Technology Corporation. After passing the inspection, it was sent to Qingdao 270000m3 LNG storage tank project department, and was successfully used as the first inner wall with wall plate, marking that the 06Ni9DR steel plate produced by ZXTG was successfully applied to the world's first largest LNG storage tank.


The 06Ni9DR steel plate developed by ZXTG successfully passed the technical review of the China Boiler and Pressure Vessel Commission in 2011. Its products have been applied to many national major projects and exported to many countries. Its main customers include Sinopec, PetroChina, CNOOC, and ChemChina, with a total supply of more than 80000 tons.

The company continues to achieve technological breakthroughs. Compared with the conventional 06Ni9DR steel plate, the 06Ni9DR steel plate successfully developed for 270000m3 LNG storage tank has narrower chemical composition range, more stable performance requirements, lower remanence requirements and stricter plate type requirements.

The product technical conditions were analyzed in detail. In the process of formulating the product production process plan, the phosphorus content was raised from the technical requirement of no more than 50ppm to the internal control of no more than 40ppm, and the hydrogen content was controlled at no more than 1ppm. The homogenization of the chemical composition of the slab was achieved, laying a foundation for the stability of the product performance.

The steel plate products have passed the performance re inspection of China Special Inspection Institute and China Ship 725 Institute. The chemical composition, low temperature impact toughness, tensile strength, CTOD and other properties of the products meet the product design requirements, and there is a large margin.

9Ni steel plate

9Ni steel plate for low temperature pressure vessel is a martensitic steel serving at ultra-low temperature (- 163 ℃). Compared with austenitic stainless steel and aluminum alloy, it has not only better low-temperature toughness (- 196 ℃), but also higher strength, which is about three times as strong as austenitic stainless steel. Therefore, 9Ni steel plate can greatly save materials and reduce manufacturing costs. In addition, the product also has excellent cold formability, weldability and crack propagation resistance, and is an ideal material for manufacturing LNG, liquid argon, liquid nitrogen and other storage tanks.
