3D Systems launches new metal 3D printers DMP Flex 350 and DMP Factory 350 and aluminum alloy powder LaserForm AISiMg0.6 at Formnext 2018 (A)

At Formnext 2018, 3D Systems introduced two new metal 3D printers, DMP Flex 350 and DMP Factory 350, to meet the mass production of customized parts for the aerospace, healthcare and transportation industries. In addition, 3D Systems has introduced a new aluminum alloy material, LaserForm AISiMg0.6 (A), for rugged and lightweight parts that do not require casting.

3D System's Direct Metal Printing (DMP) platform is a scalable metal additive manufacturing solution. The two new products belong to this series and are designed for powerful applications and the production of repeatable metal parts around the clock. DMP Flex 350 is the replacement of 3D Systems' ProX DMP 320 metal 3D printer. The upgraded platform integrates improved airflow technology, which achieves higher repeatability and print uniformity, and improves printing efficiency by 15%.

DMP Factory 350 has the same functionality as DMP Flex 350, but adds an integrated powder management system. DMP Factory 350 also includes real-time process monitoring, enabling users to analyze and optimize printing parameters for higher quality products.

Both new metal 3D printers are equipped with 3D System 3DXpert 14 integrated software solution, which can realize seamless metal 3D printing manufacturing process. In terms of cost, the DMP Flex 350 starts at $ 575,000 and the DMP Factory 350 is priced at $ 763,000. It will be available before the end of 2018.

In addition, the new material LaserForm AISi7Mg0.6 (A) introduced by 3D Systems is a new type of aluminum alloy powder used to produce strong, lightweight parts without casting. This material is ideal for producing transportation or other parts that need to be lightweight to improve fuel efficiency.

The new material also has good corrosion resistance, high thermal conductivity and electrical ductility, as well as good welding performance. These characteristics make it suitable for the production of parts such as housings, mold inserts, impellers and heat exchangers.
