At the 2019 TCT exhibition site, we once again saw the American carbon fiber and desktop metal 3D printer Markforged. This is the company's second participation in the TCT exhibition. It is one of the hot spots of global 3D printing, and has previously been favored by companies such as Siemens' next47 division, Microsoft Ventures, and Porsche SE. Its core technology is derived from MIT, which can print high-strength composite materials and metal powders, with fast printing speed, high precision, and light quality. Thousands of printers are used in various industries around the world.
Markforged was founded in 2012 and has 120 employees. Printer prices range from $ 3,499 to $ 99,500. The company said it will use the new $ 30 million investment to develop new 3D printing technology and upgrade existing 3D printers, one of which is Metal X. This machine is powerful, but the price is surprisingly low, only $ 99,500 (about 680,000 yuan). What's more, the technology it uses is not laser sintering (LS) or electron beam melting (EBM), but Markforged's unique "Atomic Diffusion Additive Manufacturing" (ADAM).
