A production line designed by Italy’s Gamma Meccanica to produce 50,000 tons of adiabatic thermal insulation rock wool material was put into production in Datong, Shanxi

A production line with an annual capacity of 50,000 tons of thermal insulation and rock wool materials designed and manufactured by Italian Gamma Meccanica Company was put into production in Datong, Shanxi. The company has designed and manufactured complete lines and stand-alone machines for the production of mineral wool insulation materials (rock wool and glass wool) since 1977, and has established a rock wool production line project in China in 1996.

This latest production line is the largest production line currently designed and manufactured by Gamma Meccanica in China. It can produce 7-8 tons of products per hour, which means that it can produce more than 50,000 tons of thermal insulation materials every year. The production line is located in Datong, Shanxi Province. As an important state-owned enterprise, the company has become a new member of the thermal insulation product market. The effective width of this production line is 2.5 meters, which can produce high-density boards and rock wool coils. It has excellent mechanical strength and can meet many applications such as industrial and building insulation. The rock wool products produced are of high quality and meet strict European standards. Gamma Meccanica production line has excellent process technology, advanced sensor system to monitor product quality, using the latest software control, the operator can operate all functions of the production line from a dedicated control room, away from the noise and high temperature of the production line.

The production line consists of about 30 unit mechanisms, which convert basalt and other mixtures into mineral fibers, and then into rock wool boards or roll felts. The production line begins with the extraction and mixing of raw materials. The core of the production line includes a cupola for rock smelting, an exhaust gas purification device, and a new direct-connected centrifuge and a new cotton drum designed for large-scale production by Gamma Meccanica. The semi-finished product is then passed through a pendulum, and the fibers are oriented through a special pre-pleating and pleating system designed by Gamma Meccanica, all the way through the curing oven, edge material cutting and the system for collecting and backfilling, horizontal and vertical dust-free Cutting knives, stackers, and high-pressure winders with roll wrapping. All cutting devices are dust-free equipment, which avoids any production waste and creates a better working environment. The production line is also equipped with an exhaust gas filtration system, and the production process can meet the requirements of environmental protection regulations in China and even Europe.

With this production line, Gamma Meccanica has consolidated its market position in China. In the competition with international competitors, the company has won the opportunity to cooperate with more customers due to its excellent process technology and production efficiency. Gamma Meccanica's engineers have provided 40 years of design experience on important parts of workshop engineering. The production line was assembled in a new building, but Gamma Meccanica was able to complete the need to build a line in an existing plant.

The Chinese market, like the US and European markets, has begun to choose large-scale production lines with annual output of 80,000 to 100,000 tons. Gamma Meccanica has developed the ability to provide larger equipment to meet these needs. In addition, Gamma Meccanica has provided a new electric furnace production line in response to the technical needs of Chinese manufacturers wishing to replace the existing cupola with an electric furnace: Gamma Meccanica expects an electric furnace production line with an annual capacity of 35,000 tons designed and manufactured by Gamma Meccanica. It will be put into production in China in 2019. Another similar electric furnace project is in the Eastern European market. The raw materials used are mainly rock wool waste produced by the company's other production line. With this model, a waste-free production cycle can be achieved.
