Advanced Sensor Technologies Inc. (ASTi) will use Solvay’s Ryton® polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) for two industrial sensor housings

Solvay, a leading global supplier of high-performance polymers, announces that Advanced Sensor Technologies Inc. (ASTi) uses Ryton® polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) for two industrial sensor housings . The sensors described above are designed to measure pH or redox potential (ORP) in industrial processes and are enclosed in a Ryton® R-4-230BL molded housing. Ryton® R-4-230BL is an advanced 40% glass fiber reinforced PPS compound with superior processability, excellent stiffness and strong chemical resistance even at high temperatures.

ASTi is an electrochemical sensor design company for laboratory, medical and industrial applications. The company chose to place its solid-state pH and ORP sensors in a Ryton® R-4-230BL molded case to protect it from harsh operating conditions in online process control and monitoring applications. The specific Ryton® PPS grade selected by ASTi achieves an optimal balance between a series of excellent properties, including excellent processability, resistance to a wide range of chemicals, and excellent dimensional stability required for forming complex parts with extremely tight tolerances Sex, etc.

Ryton® PPS reliably maintains its chemical resistance and stiffness even after prolonged exposure to high temperatures of 200 ° C (392 ° F) and, depending on the application, is exposed to high temperatures of 260 ° C (500 ° F) for a short period of time Can still maintain its performance.

"ASTi is increasingly relying on Solvay's wealth of advanced polymers to develop its products for medical, biopharmaceutical and industrial applications, but we have found that the unique characteristics of Ryton® PPS are best suited to the operating environment of our new pH and ORP sensors," Martin Patko, founder and president of ASTi, said, "Ryton® PPS is expected to optimize the performance and life of these sensors, while meeting the needs of many applications that combine excellent chemical resistance, thermal stability, electrical properties and stiffness in the future."
