Airbus A350 XWB, a new generation of ultra-wide body mid-size passenger aircraft featuring Teijin Tenax®TPCL carbon fiber thermoplastic reinforced laminates, has been delivered to Japan Airlines

Teijin Limited announced today that Airbus A350 XWB, a new generation of ultra-wide body mid-size passenger aircraft featuring Teijin Tenax® TPCL carbon fiber thermoplastic reinforced laminates, has been delivered to Japan Airlines and will be delivered on June 14. Arrive at Tokyo Haneda Airport.

As the top supplier of Airbus for more than 30 years, Teijin has provided aircraft manufacturers with Tenax® carbon fiber suitable for aircraft parts manufacturing.

In May 2014, Tenax® TPCL was registered as an eligible product of Airbus, the first time in the world that carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastics (CFRTP) have been used for the main structural components of Airbus aircraft.

Tenax® TPCL is a carbon fiber composite made of highly impact-resistant, heat-resistant and chemical-resistant PEEK (polyetheretherketone) thermoplastic resin provided by Teijin Carbon Europe GmbH.

Teijin is increasingly focusing on the development of sturdy, lightweight, high-performance materials that provide environmentally-friendly solutions to improve fuel efficiency. Teijin will focus its carbon fiber business on the aircraft sector and rapidly expand its mid- and downstream applications.

Going forward, Teijin intends to further strengthen its carbon fiber and intermediate materials business, and is committed to becoming a leading solution provider in the field of aerospace applications.
