AkzoNobel has developed a new biocide-free antifouling coating, Intersleek 1000. The new coating can reduce fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions by up to 6%. It is reported that providing different references and requirements for ship owners and ship operators will help them achieve sustainable shipping more easily.
The new technology incorporates bio-renewable raw materials to enhance the performance of the ship. The hull coating using Intersleek1000 can maintain a smooth surface and reduce drag. Long-term use of Intersleek 1000 antifouling control coating is equivalent to using a self-polishing copolymer coating.
