AMSilk and Airbus collaborate to develop next-generation composite fibers for aircraft manufacturing

AMSilk and Airbus have signed a joint cooperation agreement to jointly develop composite materials for the aerospace industry, creating a new situation in the development of aerospace composite materials. The new composite will be manufactured using AMSilk's Biosteel fiber technology, which enables a lightweight structure with resistance to multiple impacts and flexibility.

In recent years, the aerospace industry has shifted from metal and steel fuselages and wings to carbon fiber composite materials, with the main purpose of reducing aircraft weight and saving fuel. It is said that bio-steel fibers provide superior flexibility to carbon fibers, enabling innovation in design and construction technology without compromising strength.

Biosteel fibers are made from biopolymers based on natural spider silk. This material is known for its strength, flexibility and toughness. AMSilk produces Biosteel fiber through closed-loop biotechnology, making the product highly sustainable without the need for oil investment.

Jens Klein, CEO of German company AMSilk, said: "We are excited to partner with Airbus, the global leader in high-performance aircraft, to create a completely new material. At AMSilk, we are committed to producing high performance and sustainable development Materials, the current partnership with Airbus creates a new, stronger and more sustainable direction for the entire aerospace industry. "

AMSilk and Airbus aim to launch prototypes of new composite materials in 2019.
