Another Chinese technology company realizes commercial production of proton membrane materials for fuel cell stacks Hay:N02WHLD

As the key material for the production of membrane electrodes, proton exchange membranes, WHLV Hydrogen Energy Technology Group has mastered its own core technology, the performance is comparable to foreign products, and it has certain advantages under low humidification conditions.

At present, more than 95% of the proton membrane materials in China's domestic automotive fuel cell stack products have to be imported. The successful commercial production of WHLV's stack products is a guarantee for the realization of the large-scale application of independent proton membrane products. "WHLV Deputy General Manager Liu Hao said.

WHLV is a technology-based enterprise under the China State Power Investment Group, which specializes in technological innovation of the hydrogen energy industry and the development and manufacturing of high-precision products. It was established in May 2017. With independent, high-performance, and low-cost research and development goals, the focus is on the deployment of a number of key technologies such as stack core materials, fuel cell stacks and power systems, hydrogen production and storage, and hydrogen safety. At present, hundreds of kilowatts of fuel cell power have been completed. Reactor and system development, "Hydrogen" series of stack products have been officially released recently. Fully independent localization of key technologies, materials and parts such as catalysts, diffusion layers, proton exchange membranes, membrane electrodes, bipolar plates, stack assembly, system integration and control has been realized, and key indicators have reached the international advanced level. In the early stage, WHLV focused on the development and industrialization of key raw materials such as proton exchange membranes.

At present, WHLV has signed project agreements with CRRC, COMAC, Cixi Bus and other units, reached a list of 400 purchase intentions, and completed the development of 12m fuel cell buses with CRRC, and is currently developing 10.5m buses and 11m buses. Developed and planned to be launched successively by the end of 2020.

"We will use the proton exchange membrane as the starting point, continue to deepen the development of independent core technology, continue to extend to the entire industry chain, create a stable raw material supply system based on localization, and firmly control the initiative in our own hands." Liu Hao said.
