The product produced by this project is a high-performance polyimide film, which is an excellent insulating film. It can maintain the excellent mechanical and electrical properties while controlling the coefficient of thermal expansion below 20ppm / ℃ and the thermal shrinkage rate below 0.02. %, Can be firmly adhered to copper foil. And in order to match the new technology development requirements of narrow line width and narrow pitch in the flexible line substrate industry, the company has also developed thin PI films with a thickness of less than 10 μm by upgrading and transforming the film-making process technology.

The company stated that they have introduced two internationally advanced chemical imidization PI film production lines, independently developed resin formulations, mainly producing microelectronic PI films and PI films for high-frequency and high-speed transmission.

At the same time, the company hired 973 national scientists in the field of polyimide as consultants for new product development and senior experts from foreign counterparts as industrial engineering technical consultants. As early as 2016, JSZT Electronic Materials established a high-performance polyimide film R & D center in Beijing to conduct basic formula technology research on various products such as electrical insulation films, electronic cover films, and electronic packaging substrate films. According to statistics from China Electronic Materials Industry Association, as of 2016, there were more than 30 PI film manufacturers of varying sizes in China, with a total production capacity of more than 8,000 tons. The production of electronic-grade PI films has filled the gap in domestic high-performance electronic-grade PI films.

At present, only a few foreign companies such as DuPont in the United States, Ube in Japan, Zhongyuan Chemical in Japan, and SKC in South Korea have the ability to produce high-performance PI films on a large scale. China's high-performance PI film market has long been monopolized by the United States, Japan, and South Korea.

Japan's Ube Industrial Co., Ltd. successfully developed a new type of linear polyimide in the early 1980s, including UpilexR, UpilexS and UpilexC series films.

Ube Industries' independently developed PI film, UpilexR, with a capacity of 1 million square meters per year (80 tons / year) was put into production in 1983, and a model UpilexS was added in 1985.

Compared with Kapton, UpilexS has high heat resistance, better dimensional stability and low moisture absorption.

KANEKA CORPORATION

As early as 1980, Kaneka Chemical began researching polyimide films in the laboratory and successfully developed a new type of "homobenzene" type PI film, with the trade name "Apical".
