According to the Korean media ETnews report, APS Holdings held its board of directors on the 17th and announced that it will invest 20 billion won (about 120 million yuan) in FMM Stick production. The investment amount is equivalent to 8.42% of the capital.
The purpose of this investment is to preemptively respond to customer and market needs. In addition to the FMM Laser equipment that will be put into storage, APS Holdings will also ensure the various equipment required for the production line. APS Holdings said that it will strengthen cooperation with domestic and foreign display panel manufacturers, and gradually implement additional investment based on the future business development.
FMM is the core consumable material required for the production of OLED panels. It is used to vapor-deposit organic materials to an accurate position. It is a metal material plate thinner than paper. At present, the market for FMM materials necessary for UHD display production is basically monopolized by Japan, and Korean manufacturers urgently need to achieve self-sufficiency.
APS Holding developed its equipment for manufacturing FMM (KORONA FMM) with its own laser processing technology in 2014. Afterwards, APS Holdings successfully produced UHD-level 800PPI samples and 1000PPI samples suitable for VR and AR resolutions through continuous R & D and upgrading technology. APS Holdings currently has thinner processing technology for Invar (invar alloy) of FMM material and processing technology for making fine holes.
