Arkema invests in Adaptive3D, an American high-quality polymer resin start-up focused on additive manufacturing research and development

Arkema led the Series B financing of Adaptive3D, an innovative company that is a supplier of high-quality additive manufacturing light-curing resins. This investment complements the company's expertise in the design of UV-curable liquid resin materials and its commitment to accelerate the development of 3D printing manufacturing technology.

Adaptive3D provides solutions for soft and flexible end products through cutting-edge technology. This start-up company sells light-curing resins to achieve the additive manufacturing of tough, strain-resistant, and tear-resistant rubber. Adaptive3D printable light-curable resins are optimized for large-volume manufacturing of complex 3D plastic and rubber parts in many markets, including consumer products, healthcare, industry, transportation, and oil and gas markets.

Through the business activities of its subsidiary Sartomer and its pioneering N3xtDimension® series of advanced UV-curable liquid resins, Arkema and Adaptive3D have achieved success in many technical and commercial developments. In this cooperation, the two parties aim to reach cooperation with various endpoints of the additive manufacturing ecosystem, from new material research and development, large-scale specialty resin manufacturing, to end-application functional components, and provide market-leading solutions for large-scale material production. Arkema focuses on many other material technologies, such as photoinitiators and sulfur-based materials, and can further enhance Adaptive3D's product supply through customized solutions.

Through its investment in Adaptive3D, Arkema will usher in a new milestone in fields including footwear, medical care, automobiles and electronic equipment. By maximizing materials that meet market needs, both customers and manufacturers will benefit from special sustainable high-performance solutions developed by Arkema and Adaptive3D.

Walter Voit, founder and CEO of Adaptive3D, said: "In order to challenge the aging model of injection-molded rubber, Adaptive3D is currently expanding its production and distribution scale to provide stable storage and printing stability of one-component light-curable resins to produce high-quality finished parts. , Our resins enable customers to perform topology optimization and microstructure design of their polymer products to provide sustainable competitive advantages."

Sumeet Jain, Global Senior Director of Arkema 3D Printing, said: “Arkema is the world’s leading supplier of specialty materials, providing sustainable and innovative solutions for manufacturing technology. Arkema’s Adaptive3D light-curing resins have been widely verified in the market. It will further promote our customer-centric mission and open up new application areas. Adaptive3D provides compelling material properties, that is, easy printing and post-processing. This is a major advancement in the entire additive manufacturing field."
