Avient, a major provider of professional and sustainable material solutions and services, has launched its latest series of sustainable materials: Artisan™ thermoplastics. For products in the consumer market, Artisan™ nylon (PA6) is the first material in a series of high-gloss, scratch-resistant pre-colored thermoplastics, and its formulation can replace spray paint.
Compared with painted plastics, parts molded with Artisan pre-colored thermoplastics have excellent scratch resistance, which minimizes the appearance of scratches. Replacing painted metal parts with Artisan materials can also improve corrosion resistance. These thermoplastics also bring two benefits: because there is no need to spray paint, they reduce energy use and eliminate VOCs. In outdoor consumer applications, excellent aesthetics, UV resistance and high performance are essential, such as sports fields, lawns and gardens, hull panels and shells, which are all suitable application scenarios for custom Artisan formulations.
