On October 29, local time, Ballard Power Systems of Canada announced that it had signed a final agreement with Audi to modify the existing technology research and development agreement and patent license agreement. On September 14, 2020, Audi announced at the press conference that it had signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding with Ballard to combine Ballard's high-performance, zero-emission, proton exchange membrane fuel cell stack product FCgen®-HPS It is extended to all applications including commercial trucks and passenger cars.
FCgen®-HPS battery stack can power a series of light, medium and heavy vehicles, with a high volumetric power density of 4.3 kW/L, leading the industry. This battery stack also shows that Ballard has reached another power density milestone in PEM fuel cell product innovation. The FCgen®-HPS battery stack is completely designed and developed by Ballard's technical solution project in cooperation with Audi, in accordance with strict automotive industry standards.
In addition to leading high power density, FCgen®-HPS battery stack also combines impressive performance indicators, including:
1. High power output: the maximum power can reach 140kW, which can be extended to multiple power modules;
2. Working temperature draft: The maximum working temperature reaches 95 degrees Celsius, which can realize a more efficient and smaller cooling system;
3. It can work in harsh cold weather: it can start at minus 28 degrees Celsius, and it can quickly increase the power.
