Basanite Industries launches a new generation of basalt fiber reinforced concrete materials

Basanite Industries announced that it has received approval from the Southern Florida regulatory agency to produce "new generation" non-corrosive concrete reinforcement materials in its latest technology plant in Pompano Beach, Florida.

After Basanite's new pultrusion equipment arrived in May 2019, Basanite began a comprehensive expansion of its Pompano Beach plant.

Dave Anderson, COO of Basanite, explained: "After months of extensive research, hard work and teamwork, including working with the city of Pompano Beach, we are proud to announce that we have passed the approval and are ready to enter the next Phase. Some of our initial work is with prefabricated component manufacturers who are actively designing themselves to replace black steel and epoxy-coated reinforced materials with BasaFlex basalt fiber reinforced plastic (BFRP). "

The Florida Department of Transportation is currently accepting designs including BFRP, and Dave Anderson believes that this will encourage other transportation departments to accept the use of BFRP reinforced materials. Dave Anderson said: "The Florida Department of Transportation has always been a leader in the field of corrosion-free reinforcement materials, and Basanite Industries is confident that other transportation departments and municipalities will work with them to solve the problem of concrete cracking due to rusty reinforcement materials . "

Basanite Industries produces BasaFlex high-efficiency basalt fiber reinforcement, which aims to increase the intrinsic value of concrete structures by avoiding the corrosion problems usually caused by intermediate products or components, or the natural corrosion problems caused by the reinforcement itself. Basalt fiber-reinforced polymers provide a corrosion-free solution for traditional steel reinforcement in concrete structures. BFRP is 75% lighter than steel, never corrodes, and the tensile strength reaches or exceeds steel. Basanite's mission is to become the manufacturing leader of BFRP and use it for the construction of a new generation of infrastructure in the concrete industry.
