BASF increases attapulgite additive supply

On May 22, 2019, BASF improved its production process to ensure long-term stable and reliable supply of attapulgite products. BASF's manufacturing facility in Quincy, Florida, USA has implemented a series of improvements to expand the grinding and packaging capabilities of coarse gels, fine gels and granular materials, as well as improve global shipping and logistics services for mineral products. This initiative aims to meet the growing demand for attapulgite from BASF's major global markets.

Over the past few years, meeting the market's growing demand for attapulgite has been challenging, especially for emerging economies that are on the rise in construction and infrastructure construction.

Dr. Claus Dallner, Vice President of Global Business at BASF Additives, said: "We have introduced a number of optimization measures for our base operations, including investment in new packaging equipment and increased output. These measures will help us increase the supply of attapulgite materials by providing quality Reliable products better support the business growth of customers worldwide. "BASF has also improved its warehouse management system to ensure sufficient safety stock to cope with seasonal peak demand.

Attapulgite is a naturally mined acicular clay mineral composed of magnesium aluminosilicate. The name of the mineral comes from the place where it was found, in the town of Dumburg, Georgia. BASF operates an attapulgite mine in the area, and its production facilities are located approximately 17 miles south of Attapulgina, Quincy, Florida. BASF owns most of the 18,000-hectare attapulgite mines in Florida and Georgia, which provides the plant with an adequate supply of raw materials.

Michelle Tadlock, BASF Attapulgite Product Manager, said: "Our Attapulgite products can help customers reduce formulation complexity and improve production efficiency. Products have very good colloidal properties such as dispersibility, high temperature resistance, salt and alkali resistance, High adsorption and decolorization ability. "
