Valvert, a Belgian natural mineral water brand, has launched a new bottle made of 100% rPET as packaging.
The Nestlé company ensures a reliable supply of high-quality, food-grade rPET. The company can produce 100% rPET 1.5 liter bottles and can also produce 50% rPET 500 ml bottles. Valvert hopes to transition its 50CL bottle to 100% rPET by the end of this year.
Emmanuel Gruffat, general manager of Nestlé Waters Benelux, said: "We believe that the new Valvert 100% rPET bottle is a breakthrough in the next generation of sustainable packaging that can stimulate a circular economy between bottles."
This development supports Nestlé's commitment to increase the rPET content in its water bottles to 35% worldwide. Michel Mersch, CEO of Nestlé Belgilux, said: "Nestle wants to take responsibility towards consumers and help shape a more sustainable future. We are determined to look at every option to help solve the challenge of plastic waste. Adopt solutions that can now make a difference, such as developing new materials, improving collection and recycling programs, and driving new actions. "
Last year, Nestlé Pure Life launched 100% rPET bottles in North America. In addition, the mineral water brand Polish Springs has announced plans to convert its product portfolio to recycled plastic by 2021.
