BOE is preparing for the trial production of micro-OLED panels for AR / VR applications. Trial production will begin in early 2019. The trial production will be carried out at Kunming BOE Display Technology Company, a joint venture established by BOE and the Kunming Municipal Government.
According to the data, with the technical support of Aurel Optoelectronics and American Kopin, Kunming BOE Display plans to produce 1 million OLED panels per year, ranging in size from 0.5 inches to 0.8 inches.
At present, BOE has begun to purchase the production equipment required by the plant, including sputtering, CVD (chemical meteorological deposition), AOI (automatic optical inspection) and ALD (atomic layer deposition) equipment, paving the way for trial production in early 2019.
