BorgWarner launches new series of high-voltage hairpin motors-HVH 146

With its flexible design, the HVH series motors can be used in a variety of configurations to provide both scalable output power and torque.

BorgWarner has launched a new high-voltage hairpin motor HVH 146, and it is expected that in early 2020, the company will cooperate with a large original equipment manufacturer to officially apply the motor to light hybrid passenger cars. As the BV Warner family's patented and highly versatile HVH series motors, the HVH 146 motors can be produced entirely in-house or supplied with rotor / stator components. With its flexible design, the HVH series motors can be used in a variety of configurations to provide both scalable output power and torque.

In hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) applications, HVH 146 (built-in permanent magnet motor) is best suited for belt drive integration at the P0 position of a conventional alternator. The HVH 146 is mounted on the front of the engine via a high-pressure belt system that allows the generator to run at high power with speeds up to 16,500 rpm. In addition to being a start / stop device, the HVH 146 can recharge the battery pack when the car is braking or coasting. In addition, it provides peak torque of 65 Nm and peak efficiency of 95%, which provides clean auxiliary power for high mileage. The HVH 146 motor weighs only 14 kilograms (30.9 pounds), yet can provide 35 kW peak power and 65 N • m (47.9 pound-feet) peak torque. Its power-to-weight ratio is more than double that of conventional alternators.

"As a leading supplier of clean and efficient technology solutions, we will continue to advance our comprehensive portfolio of powerful motors that meet the industry's leading torque and power density," said Stefan Demmerle, Chairman and General Manager of BorgWarner Power Drive Systems. The introduction of BorgWarner HVH 146 motors not only meets the requirements of government regulations and customer needs, but also includes the need for advanced, efficient and environmentally friendly technologies. "

The HVH 146 motor is designed to provide OEMs with a high-performance solution that is not only easy to integrate, but also has a compact package, high and low voltage connectors, and the necessary coolant connector. The HVH series replaces traditional round windings with precision-formed rectangular wires and multi-layer interlocking "issue cards". This unique wiring method and wire size can help the motor achieve higher power density and efficiency. In addition, its water-cooling performance also makes the motor have a higher energy density.

Although BorgWarner HVH 146 was originally only used in light-duty hybrid passenger cars, it is actually also suitable for commercial vehicles. In addition, HVH 146 motors can also be tailored to meet specific needs and installed in different locations on hybrid vehicles.
