BorgWarner to present the latest electrification solutions at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show

BorgWarner showcased its solutions at the 68th Frankfurt International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, to help the world achieve a cleaner and more efficient energy revolution. At booth B08 in Hall 9.0, BorgWarner focused on presenting its latest electrification product portfolio-which also reflects the theme of this year's IAA exhibition: "Going to the Future." During the exhibition, BorgWarner will showcase its hybrid and electric vehicle components and system technology advantages, as well as its complete electric transportation product portfolio: electric motors, battery and drive technology, power electronics and thermal management systems. Exhibits at the IAA venue include the company's latest battery pack, P2 hybrid power modules, eAxle iDM and innovative eTurbo technology.

"Cars have never been richer and more diverse than they are today. The automotive industry faces many challenges, and BorgWarner offers a wide range of solutions for this: Technology, "said Frédéric Lissalde, president and CEO of BorgWarner. "We have a broad portfolio of leading technologies that enable us to meet the needs of today's diverse markets and support vehicle manufacturers worldwide."

Component and system vendor expertise

At this year's Frankfurt Auto Show (IAA), BorgWarner will showcase its leading system designed for the electrification of cars, and its product portfolio includes the latest product: compact battery packs for electric vehicles. These systems are equipped with standard cylindrical batteries in a compact design and are designed to achieve excellent energy density. Together with the patented thermal energy engineering and battery management technology, they together achieve a breakthrough mileage and performance. The scalable design also allows customers with custom modules to get to market faster.

At this year's Frankfurt Motor Show, BorgWarner exhibited its hybrid and electric vehicle solutions, such as P2 modules (left), battery packs (middle), and eAxle iDM (right).

BorgWarner will also display its highly integrated electric drive module iDM. This system solution combines specially developed power electronics technology with motor and drive technology in a compact package. Other important systems are the company's on-axis and off-axis P2 hybrid modules, which allow automakers the flexibility to transform existing internal combustion engine-powered models into hybrid models without changing the motor or transmission. The 48 V solution enables pure electric driving and hybrid system functions such as start-stop systems and energy regenerative braking, which in turn can bring hybrid technology to market faster.

Presented alongside these innovative products is eTurbo technology, a turbocharger equipped with an electric equipment motor / generator that can be mounted on the same single shaft as the turbine. When assistance is needed, electric equipment rotates the turbine shaft, providing torque almost instantly. However, if the turbine energy generated from the exhaust stream is greater than the required amount, the electric device will take this energy and convert it into electrical energy.

With this Frankfurt Motor Show, you will get an overview of BorgWarner's comprehensive portfolio of hybrid and electrification solutions. As a result, BorgWarner can provide its customers with a complete automotive electrification product chain-from charging to drive technology.
