Borouge’s carbon fiber reinforced polypropylene (CF-PP) center console bracket will be unveiled at the K show in Germany

The center console bracket made of carbon fiber reinforced polypropylene (CF-PP) is about to make waves at the K Show in Dusseldorf, Germany. This part uses the Fibremod CB210SY grade, which has been enhanced by 20% through "second-use" CF cutting points, and an optimized matrix resin is used for better surface aesthetics.

Borouge's Fibremod CB201SY was selected for the center console bracket of the new NIO ES8 SUV, as its component weight has been reduced by more than 10% compared to the PP LGF30. It can provide more complex design freedom than conventional injection molded parts, and has good dimensional stability and high rigidity. The practical and unique design provides designers with a storage space in the center console. According to Nicholas Kolesch, Borouge's automotive polyolefins market leader, this electric car has no engine, opening up opportunities for more storage space.

Borouge also introduced a hybrid grade, Fibremod CD211SY, filled with 10% carbon fiber and 10% talc. Kolesch said: "This grade is suitable for body panels that require high fluidity and paint, which can provide better stiffness. The product is cut with carbon fiber, and we are considering the use of recycled carbon fiber."

Kolesch added: "After launching our first-generation Fibremod carbon fiber grade, we quickly realized the strong demand for applications we didn't foresee initially: body panels, and other structures with complex geometries and Class A painted surfaces Internal applications. We are innovating with our customers and value chain partners and expanding our Fibremod carbon product portfolio to achieve lighter weight, durable solutions and good surface aesthetics. "
