Canadian Nanomaterials Corporation announced that it has obtained a patent on lithium nickel manganese oxide (LNMO) cathode material (also known as high-pressure spinel, nickel: manganese = 1: 3). This patented technology can improve the durability of the cathode material, increase the common operating temperature in electric vehicle batteries, and operate at a higher voltage with a fast charge and discharge rate.
Huachuang Securities pointed out that due to the increasing power demand of electric vehicles, the market demand for high-power density lithium-ion battery electrode materials continues to increase. At present, the commonly used cathode material is nickel-manganese-cobalt ternary, which is limited by the resources of metal cobalt and nickel, and is facing the problem of rising costs. Therefore, manganese-rich electrode materials with richer resource reserves have attracted the attention of researchers worldwide.
