Capacity status of China’s leading manufacturer of carbon fiber composite materials

New development of China's carbon fiber industry

In 2019, the overall style of China's carbon fiber industry is: prosperous production and sales + heavy production expansion plan and capital restructuring.

Following the good market conditions in 2018, the market demand is strong in 2019, and most leading carbon fiber manufacturers are in short supply. In addition, this is also closely related to the efforts of China's carbon fiber companies to practice their internal strength and improve quality and reduce costs for many years.

From 2019 to early 2020, many companies have announced plans to expand production:

In February 2019, JSZF Carbon Fiber Composite Technology Group announced an investment of 5 billion yuan and a new 20,000 ton carbon fiber project;

In July 2019, WHGW Carbon Fiber Composite Materials Technology Group and Danish Vestas signed an agreement to invest 2 billion yuan in the construction of a “10,000-ton carbon fiber industrialization project” in Baotou;

In mid-2019, JLJG Carbon Fiber Technology Group expanded a 2,000-ton carbonization line, which is expected to be put into operation in mid-2020;

In March 2020, China BW High Performance Fiber Materials Technology Group invested 6 billion yuan to enter the carbon fiber industry.

In March 2020, ZGLX Carbon Fiber Technology Group newly built 50,000 tons of carbon fiber raw silk and 25,000 tons of carbon fiber.

In March 2020, SHSH Carbon Fiber Technology Group issued an announcement to invest 3.5 billion yuan to build 24,000 tons of carbon fiber raw silk and 12,000 tons of large tow carbon fiber projects.

The above-mentioned enterprises are serious enterprises, and most of the expansion plans are already under implementation. The gradual release of these production capacities in the next few years will not only ease the contradiction between the supply and demand of carbon fiber in China, but also lay the foundation for China's carbon fiber to truly open the era of large tow and low-cost carbon fiber. The mass production of low-cost carbon fibers will vigorously promote the development of wind power and automotive applications.
