Celanese launches bio-based copolyformaldehyde product POM ECO-B

With increasing customer demand for materials containing renewable ingredients and low environmental impact, Celanese has launched a sustainable bio-based copolyformaldehyde product, POM ECO-B, to meet this growing demand.

POM ECO-B allows customers to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in their end products and move towards the goal of achieving renewable ingredients. Celanese believes that this product has a strong value proposition for customers in the automotive, consumer products and medical device industries, because in these industries, the reduction of carbon footprint or the amount of renewable ingredients is very important.

Using the mass balance method of International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC+), Celanese POM ECO-B has a biological content of up to 97%. It can reduce the CO2 emissions per kilogram of copolymerized polyoxymethylene polymer by more than half without affecting the performance of the product and without re-certification.

“Celanese is committed to enhancing the variety and performance of our specialty material products through continuous investment in sustainable product development. The POM ECO-B launched today is another example of our focus on developing functional material specifications that can both To meet strict technical requirements and provide customers with environmentally-friendly options," said Tom Kelly, senior vice president of Celanese Engineering Materials.
