China realizes commercial production of 33mm thick X80 grade large strain pipeline steel plate Hay:A02LNAG

Large strain pipeline steel plates with a thickness of 33mm and a grade of X80 have been industrialized in LNAG Iron and Steel Technology Corporation, and are planned to be applied for the first time in the active fault zone crossing area of the Fourth West East Gas Pipeline Project, achieving a breakthrough in zero key materials for large capacity long-distance pipelines in complex areas.


This material has solved the core material problem urgently needed for the construction of China's long oil and gas pipeline, strongly supported the construction of major pipeline projects, and is of great significance for ensuring national energy security.


In order to meet the construction and development of long-distance pipelines, China's national pipeline network has put forward the urgent need to develop materials for thick wall high-strength pipelines serving in strain areas, and strive to open up the key "blocking points" of long-distance pipeline construction. Before that, the development and application of X80 large strain pipeline steel plate with a thickness of more than 30 mm was still blank, which became a "technical bottleneck" restricting the construction of long-distance pipeline in complex areas.

Relying on the National Key Laboratory of Metal Materials for Marine Equipment and Their Applications, LNAG, together with China National Iron and Steel Research Institute, the National Pipe Network, Bohai Equipment and ZSBS [China's leading manufacturer of large diameter steel pipes, which can produce 18 meters long and 2438 mm super large diameter spiral welded pipes in the whole process] and other units, carried out a comprehensive and systematic study on the plastic toughening mechanism, material design, product manufacturing, pipe manufacturing and application of thick wall high-strength and large strain pipeline steel plates;

The R&D team has explored the compound regulation mechanism of core indicators such as strength, strain and crack arrest toughness of pipeline steel plate under the limit size specification;

A number of innovative leading technologies, such as multi-scale microstructure and fine structure control of high-strength and large strain pipeline steel plate, and special manufacturing process based on deformation coupling, have been formed;

The 33mm X80 high strain pipeline steel plate has been successfully developed, which has excellent comprehensive characteristics of strength, plasticity, toughness, strain resistance, width and thickness.

ZSBS development φ 1219mm * 33mm steel pipe fully meets the technical requirements of X80HD2 LSAW pipe designed based on strain area, filling the technical gap in relevant fields in China.
