Recently, in the production workshop of ZGYZ Heavy Technology Group, along with the roar of presses, the world’s first all-austenitic stainless steel die-forged main pump housing was installed at the North China Nuclear and Radiation Safety Supervision Station of the National Nuclear Safety Administration. The successful trial production was witnessed by the security center and many other units on site, which marked the staged progress of the ZGYZ project.
The successful trial production of die forging pump casing not only solves the outstanding problems of the quality of cast pump casing for a long time, but also uses die forging forming manufacturing method to minimize the forging allowance, fully retain the forging fiber streamline, and ensure the mechanics of the forging. At the same time of performance, the near-net shape and green manufacturing of super large forgings are truly realized, which reflects the high technical level of domestic large forgings manufacturing, and also provides valuable experience for the design of ZGYZ super large multi-function presses.
Full austenitic stainless steel die forging main pump casing
The reactor coolant circulation pump is an important equipment of a nuclear power plant. It is hailed as the heart of the reactor cooling system. Its reliability directly affects the safe operation of the nuclear reactor. At present, the main pump casing is a cast pump casing. Due to its special material, complex shape, poor liquidity of molten steel, and serious erosion of the inner wall of the cavity, it often causes defects such as inconsistent flaw detection, which has been plagued by various main pump manufacturers in China. In order to fundamentally solve the quality problems of cast pump casing products, ZGYZ relied on the experience accumulated by Yizhong in the field of super large forgings for many years, and used the HBHR nuclear equipment super large press to carry out scientific research and development on the die forging pump casing, and finally solved the die forging The design and material selection of the pump casing, the preparation of technical conditions, and the die forging process plan have successfully passed the approval of the regulatory authorities and upstream designers.
