China’s high permeability magnetic substrate materials successfully replaced imports Hay:I04CDJC

Don't underestimate this black magnetic substrate with a size of only 2.25 square decimeters. It is divided and assembled near the camera on the back of the mobile phone, which can ensure that the mobile phone transmits antenna signals in complex environments, which is equivalent to a sensor interconnected with the outside world.

This high-permeability magnetic substrate developed by CDJC and China University of Electronic Science and Technology for more than 10 years has broken the monopoly of foreign substrate manufacturers. It is not only used by Huawei, Meizu, Xiaomi and other mobile phones, but also sold to the United States, Japan, etc. dozens of countries and regions. With the project of "Key Technologies and Industrialization of High Magnetic Permeability Magnetic Substrates", the CDJC R&D team recently won the second prize of the 2018 National Science and Technology Progress Award.

"High permeability magnetic substrate is a new type of electronic substrate material, which has the characteristics of high permeability, thin thickness and good impedance matching effect, and is used in near field communication, wireless charging, anti-electromagnetic interference and other fields.


Previously, there was still a gap between China and developed countries in terms of high permeability magnetic substrate material system integration capability and manufacturing process level. Dr. Deng said that the main technical difficulty lies in how to solve the problem of shielding and transmission of high-frequency signals by metal emission, and which process can be adopted to make the material thinner to meet the requirements of thinning, miniaturization and integration of electronic equipment.

Since 2008, CDJC's R&D team has carried out a lot of research and experimental work around the key technologies and industrialization of substrate materials, and finally invented a formula system for magnetic substrate materials with high magnetic permeability and low loss, and established a fully compatible water-based material. The system casting method realizes safe, environmentally friendly, efficient and low-cost production.

"At present, we have achieved independent innovation from formula to process, formed independent intellectual property rights, and broke the monopoly of foreign technology." Dr. Deng said that the high permeability magnetic substrate developed by the project greatly reduces the material preparation through the self-developed water-based casting process. The cost and material price are only one-tenth of the monopoly price of foreign products.

CDJC has broken through the foreign patent monopoly in the application of magnetic substrates, and has achieved independent intellectual property rights in material preparation, device design, and equipment application. The current daily production of materials can meet the needs of 600,000 mobile phones, and the materials have been used in many mobile phone brands in China and internationally.
