The history of SDTC Advanced Ceramic Materials Science and Technology Research Institute can be traced back to HB Advanced Ceramic Materials Research Institute, the first ceramic materials research institution established in 1950 in New China.

As the only national-level industrial ceramic research institute, SDTC has always stood at the forefront of industry technology, leading the development direction of China's advanced ceramic material technology and industry, and pioneering research in many fields.
