China’s leading Micro LED micro display chip manufacturer plans to mass produce 0.13-inch Micro LED Hay:I06SHJD

On October 21, China`s leading Micro LED micro display chip manufacturer SHJB Display Technology Group announced that it will mass produce 0.13-inch Micro LED micro display products in November this year.

According to SHJB, the diagonal of this series is only 0.13 inches (3.3 mm), and the resolution is 640×480. The display is about the size of a grain of rice and can be easily designed into AR smart glasses. In terms of brightness, the red, green, and blue panels can reach brightness levels of 200,000, 2 million and 1.5 million nits respectively, and the power consumption is only in the order of 100 milliwatts under normal operating conditions.

SHJB said that this series of products "may be the world's smallest VGA micro display with the highest brightness so far".

According to reports, the IC backplane of the 0.13-inch Micro LED microdisplay product integrates a number of technologies, allowing the Micro LED microdisplay chip to run static images or refresh images at low speeds with extremely low power consumption. Without additional bridge IC, the display data source can be directly transmitted from the customer application system to the micro display panel through the SPI/QSPI interface.

0.13-inch Micro LED micro-display products The IC backplane has a frame buffer, supports global switch and scroll switch image scanning modes, and has a global brightness adjustable range of 5000 levels. In addition, the product can realize image enhancement functions through built-in OTP memory, including brightness uniformity compensation and Gamma correction.

The Micro LED display series are manufactured using SHJB's proprietary hybrid integration technology. This hybrid integration technology includes the design of pixel-level optical elements (Pixel Optics™) for each individual pixel, which can greatly improve the light extraction efficiency and beam shape of the Micro LED.

According to reports, the 0.13-inch Micro LED micro-display product series includes two full-color optical solutions in addition to monochromatic panels in three colors of red, green and blue.

The first full-color scheme is to achieve full-color through the X-cube color prism. In the full-color module, three monochromatic panels are respectively fixed to the three sides of the X-cube, and the synthesized light is emitted from the fourth surface, collimated and projected by a set of microlenses. Including three Micro LED monochromatic panels, an X-cube color combining prism, and lens optics, the module volume of the X-cube solution is less than 1.4 cubic centimeters.
