China’s leading semiconductor material technology company builds new semiconductor lead frame and AMOLED FMM production line project Hay:I04AHLD

On the morning of November 8, 2020, the launch ceremony of the new high-precision semiconductor lead frame and AMOLED high-precision metal mask (Phase I) project of AHLD Semiconductor Material Technology Group was held in the HF Comprehensive Bonded Zone.

The total planned investment of this project is 1.5 billion yuan, of which 370 million yuan is invested in the first phase, and the construction area is 32,000 square meters. The production scale is 100 million etched lead frames, 30 million stamped lead frames, and high-precision metal masks. 7 million pieces, with an annual output value of over 1.5 billion yuan.

Lead frames are a very important core material in the semiconductor packaging process. China is the world's largest lead frame market, and etched lead frames basically rely on imports. High-precision metal mask (FMM) is the core material of the AMOLED evaporation process, which determines the resolution and size of the AMOLED screen.

At present, large-size, high-resolution precision metal masks (FMM) are still the industry bottleneck. The AHLD R&D team is the earliest OLED precision metal mask (FMM) R&D team in China. This team made China’s first OLED color display screen born. The project chose to bypass the barriers of raw materials and used a hybrid process to produce composite precision metal masks (FMM), breaking through the material, high PPI and large-size bottlenecks of the mask; at the same time, the project applied the top mask R&D process technology to In the R&D and production of integrated circuit lead frames, it has solved the global technical problem of the uniformity of microscopic large-area precision manufacturing. Using the "graphic plating + high-speed etching" process route, the line width and line spacing below 3mil/3mil can be processed precisely and efficiently, reaching the international level. The highest level, using the roll-to-roll automated production process, the efficiency can reach about twice the current international production method, and the number of personnel is reduced by 50%.

The implementation of this project will promote the development of China’s new display AMOLED industry, improve China’s domestic semiconductor packaging industry’s shortage of etching lead frames, and accelerate the process of localization of integrated circuits. This project will contribute to the improvement of Hefei’s integrated circuit industry chain and new display industry. The chain is of great significance.
