Recently, the “Research on Application Technology of Marine Corrosion-resistant Steel Based on IMO Standards” successfully passed the project acceptance organized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China. This project is China's first domestically-made marine corrosion-resistant steel application demonstration project, bringing together top scientific research forces in China's steel, shipbuilding, and shipping industries.
In order to accelerate the application of China-made marine corrosion-resistant steel in real ships, under the organization of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, under the active promotion of China Iron and Steel Association, China Shipbuilding Industry Association, and China Shipowners Association, ZGCB Steel Technology Group Special Steel Research Institute China's steel materials research and development, steel production, ship construction, ship inspection, shipping and other enterprises formed a joint research and development team to carry out the "Research on the Application Technology of Marine Corrosion Steel Based on IMO Standards" and achieved a series of major results.
The first domestically-made corrosion-resistant steel application demonstration ship "Daqing 435" has been tracked and evaluated in service. Its domestic corrosion-resistant steel and supporting auxiliary materials have good corrosion resistance or even better than foreign corrosion-resistant steel materials, and have achieved good demonstration application effects. China has fully and systematically mastered the performance control technology of domestic corrosion-resistant steel shipbuilding, developed a world-leading corrosion evaluation device for ship-use corrosion-resistant steel, formed a ship-use corrosion-resistant steel production, inspection and application specification with independent intellectual property rights, and established a complete China's corrosion-resistant steel production, inspection, construction and service tracking evaluation system has realized a comprehensive assessment of domestic corrosion-resistant steel materials and construction processes, effectively reducing the risk of new material engineering applications. Relevant materials and technologies have been applied on the 300,000-ton tanker (VLCC) built by Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Group Co., Ltd.
