On January 6, 2020, SXYM New Material Technology Co., Ltd. held a press conference on the "Aerogel Series Product Launch and Production Ceremony" to announce the application research and industrialization of the new nano-silica aerogel technology constructed by SXYM The demonstration project was officially put into production. This move marked the realization of large-scale industrial production of nano-aerogels with completely independent intellectual property rights in China.

In 2018, SXYM Group and the Chinese Academy of Sciences reached a strategic cooperation to develop the process of preparing nano-silica aerogel by continuous atmospheric drying, and built a new type of nano-silica aerogel technology application research and industrial demonstration projects. The project broke ground in January 2019, and the first batch of aerogel products was produced on October 26 of the same year, and entered the trial production stage. On January 6, 2020, the project was officially put into operation.

Wang Haibo, director of SXYM, said that the first-phase production capacity of SXYM can reach 20,000 cubic meters of aerogel felt and 1,000 tons of aerogel powder, and the third phase of planned production capacity can reach 300,000 cubic meters of aerogel felt and 20,000 tons of aerogel powder The total output value can reach 8 billion yuan. After all are completed and put into production, SXYM will become the largest aerogel production enterprise in Asia.

SXYM Chairman Zhai Hong introduced that in the context of national energy saving and consumption reduction, aerogel has accelerated the pace of replacing traditional thermal insulation materials as a super thermal insulation material. The National Development and Reform Commission has included aerogel materials in the national key energy-saving and low-carbon technology promotion catalog. Shandong and Jiangsu have taken the lead in including the development of aerogel materials in the province's key support areas and development priorities. In 2018, Shanxi Province also listed aerogel as a key new material industry for regional development.

Silica aerogel is a porous solid material with a dispersion medium of gas. It is currently the lightest solid material for engineering applications. The aerogel felt made of it has super-hydrophobic, Class A flame retardant, and temperature range. Wide, long life, pressure resistance, non-toxic and other characteristics. Compared with traditional thermal insulation materials, under the same thermal insulation effect, the thickness of the aerogel material is only 1/5 ~ 1/2 of the traditional thermal insulation materials, which can save more space for the service place. However, China's aerogel industry is still limited by its high production cost and small production scale. Its application areas are mainly aerospace military, pipeline insulation, and new energy vehicles, but it has developed earlier in the aerogel industry. In mature regions, aerogels for construction are already very common. With the deepening of China's energy-saving and environmental protection concepts, the construction field will become another major civilian potential market for aerogels after pipeline insulation.
