China’s precision crankshaft manufacturers have developed ultra-high strength ductile iron materials with tensile strength exceeding 1000MPa, suitable for lightweight crankshafts with hollow and small overlapping surfaces Hay:T02GXYC

The first batch of new crankshafts using the latest research and development of ultra-high-strength ductile iron materials developed by the crankshaft division of the GXYC Precision Parts Group has been successfully trial-produced. It has now been put into the stage of bench verification, marking ultra-high-strength ductile iron materials The project made breakthrough progress.

This new material is a brand-new ultra-high strength ductile iron material with a tensile strength exceeding 1000MPa and an elongation of not less than 5%. It is a brand-new ultra-high strength ductile material. This material grade is the first time for the parts and components business department to lead the country and abroad. It has steadily increased the mechanical properties of ordinary pearlite matrix ductile iron to the "four-digit" strength threshold, and successfully applied it to production scenarios, and prepared physical products in small batches. The preparation process is entirely based on the production conditions of the foundry workshop, no precious metal components are added at all, only through process innovation and key research, the contradiction between the ultra-high strength and elongation of the material is solved, which is a leap in cast iron materials.

In the ordinary national standard materials, the ultimate strength of ductile iron is only 900MPa, and the elongation is only 2%, regardless of the strength and toughness, it can not adapt to the high explosion pressure scene of the national six model. Among the many cast iron materials at home and abroad, only ADI (Aubei ductile iron) can break through the 1000MPa mark, but due to the limitations of the preparation process and work hardening factors, ADI has not been able to popularize and apply it for many years. Therefore, the low-alloy forged steel can only be used for the crankshaft of the National VI model, but its cost is high, and it cannot be made into a hollow structure like a cast shaft. It has certain limitations to the cost control and lightweighting of the engine. It is a last resort. The ultra-high-strength ductile iron material is a high-performance material tailor-made for the transmission components of the National VI engine by the Parts and Components Division, and is particularly suitable for lightweight crankshafts with hollow and small overlapping surfaces. At present, the preparation process of this material grade has applied for a national invention patent.

The birth of ultra-high-strength ductile iron materials has filled the gap in the field of high-strength cast iron at home and abroad.
