On December 8, 2021, WHQN Hydrogen Technology Corporation`s annual production of 300,000 square meters of hydrogen fuel cell proton exchange membrane production line officially began commercial production. This proton exchange membrane production line is China’s second proton exchange membrane production line. The annual output can be Equipped with 20,000 hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.
The proton exchange membrane production line does not rely on foreign parts and technologies in all aspects, and realizes the localization of key parts of hydrogen fuel cells, breaking the long-term monopoly of China's proton exchange membrane market by foreign manufacturers.
The production line can produce proton exchange membranes with a thickness ranging from 8 microns to 20 microns. Compared with similar foreign competitors, the proton exchange membranes produced are comparable in proton conductivity, gas permeability (H2), and mechanical strength. It is better than similar foreign competitive products, and has been implemented in high-power fuel cell stack applications. It has received purchase orders from many companies, which can meet the application needs of fuel cell vehicles, humidifiers and other scenarios.
Zhang Qingjie, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and president of Wuhan University of Technology, said that the commissioning of the production line means that China has independent production capabilities in the field of high-end proton exchange membrane products, which will push China's fuel cell core material industry forward.
