Electrode induction aerosolization is one of the main methods for industrial production of titanium alloy powder in the world, and it is also the only method for domestic batch industrial production of 3D laser printing spherical titanium alloy powder. The powder prepared has the advantages of high purity, low oxygen content, controllable powder particle size, low production cost and high sphericity.

In 2015, the AGJT Group's Vanadium Titanium (Steel) Research Institute of Titanium Metal Technology began preparations for the construction of a spherical titanium and titanium alloy powder preparation platform for 3D printing. The basic supporting, installation and commissioning of aerosolization equipment were completed in 2016. Through systematic research in 2017, the aerosolization equipment was preliminarily modified, and the process of preparing spherical titanium and titanium alloy powder by aerosolization was opened, and the quality was obtained Stable qualified products, the overall technology and product quality have reached the international advanced level. In 2018, a breakthrough was made in the preparation of spherical titanium alloy powder for laser printing, and the product indicators were comparable to the world-leading German ALD company's product indicators.

Since this year, the Institute's additive manufacturing project team has further advanced the research on the preparation of high-end spherical titanium alloy powders, transformed the laboratory research results into industrial production, and successively completed the research on the compatibility of the argon station construction and atomization equipment. At present, the project team is relying on the market to gradually implement the laboratory research results, and strive to achieve industrialization as soon as possible, helping China to reverse the passive situation in the field of high-end spherical titanium alloy powders that are constrained by foreign countries.
