On October 23, 2023, XMSA Advanced Materials Technology Corporation, a leading manufacturer of silicon carbide substrates in China, announced:
The company's newly developed 8-inch silicon carbide substrate has been commercialized for production.
XMSA relies on the autonomous PVT process of precise thermal field control to achieve lower costs and lower defect density on 8-inch silicon carbide substrates. In the future, it will continue to improve yield, accelerate equipment debugging and process optimization, and continue to promote the improvement of factory mass production optimization processes.
In June 2023, XMSA announced the signing of an agreement with STMicroelectronics to establish an 8-inch silicon carbide device joint venture manufacturing plant in China. According to the plan, the total construction amount of the joint venture factory is expected to reach approximately 3.2 billion US dollars (approximately 22.78 billion RMB), and it will be put into operation in the fourth quarter of 2025. It is expected to be fully completed by 2028.
