Chinese Aramid Manufacturer Provides High-Performance Heterocyclic Aramid Materials for Mars Rover Hay:D01SCHT

On May 15, China's "Tianwen-1" successfully landed in the pre-selected landing area in the southern Utopia Plain of Mars, and China's first Mars exploration mission to Mars was a complete success.

In the process of "Tianwen-1" decelerating and landing on Mars, there is a very important device-a parachute. It is precisely because of its protection that "Tianwen-1" can successfully decelerate and land smoothly on the surface of Mars.

The "new aramid material" used in the parachute is the aramid III polymer organic material (heterocyclic aramid) developed and produced by SCHT Advanced Materials Technology Group as the main structural material of the parachute. On May 17, Zhang Ou, an aerospace material expert and chief technology officer of the company, accepted an interview with Hay Think and told the story behind the R&D.

"The research and development of this heterocyclic aramid material lasted more than 10 years." On the afternoon of May 17, Zhang Ou, CTO of SCHT, introduced to Hay Think that the aramid Ⅲ polymer organic material (heterocyclic aramid) is a kind of polymer. Fiber, the full name of heterocyclic aromatic polyamide fiber, also known as "heterocyclic aramid", is known as the "king of fiber" by the engineering community, and revolutionaryly solves the defects of other organic fibers such as being intolerant to ultraviolet light, intolerant to damp and heat aging, etc. , Can be freely exposed to the harsh working conditions of nature and long-term operation in the range of -196℃~330℃. The density of the material is only 1.43g/cm, and it has the characteristics of ultra-high strength/high modulus, high toughness, high and low temperature resistance, excellent electrical insulation, radiation resistance, corrosion resistance, fatigue resistance, and high flame retardancy.

The development and production of China's Aramid Ⅲ polymer organic material has reached the world's top level, and is used in aerospace, aviation and other fields. The SCHT R&D team will not only participate in the "Tianwen-1" mission to land on Mars, but will also continue to participate in the construction of China's space station and the subsequent series of interstellar exploration projects of China's spaceflight, striving to make more contributions to China's space industry.
