Chinese boride ceramic scientist elected Academician of World Academy of Ceramics

Recently, in the 19th World Academy of Ceramics academician election, after a strict nomination and independent selection process, researcher Zhang Guojun from the Functional Materials Research Center of Donghua University in China was elected as the Academician of World Academy of Ceramics.

Researcher Zhang Guojun is an international expert in the field of boride ceramic preparation science and performance research and non-oxide ceramic reaction sintering. He is dedicated to the study of the phase equilibrium relationship, densification and microstructure control, and strengthening and toughening mechanism of non-oxide ceramic systems.

He led the team to successfully develop a multi-system, multi-specification high-purity ultra-high temperature ceramic powder, based on the ultra-high temperature ceramic composition and microstructure design to achieve a significant improvement in high-temperature mechanical properties;

Innovatively developed the in-situ reaction synthesis process of ceramic materials, explored a number of practically valuable in-situ reaction systems, and successfully realized the control of the microstructure and performance of multiphase ceramics.

The team of researcher Zhang Guojun is currently focusing on the design and performance research of high-entropy ceramics, the performance discovery and creation process of new functionalized structural ceramics, and the functionalization of advanced structural ceramics and their performance in extreme environments such as ultra-high temperature, strong radiation and strong corrosion. Provide theoretical and experimental support for performance improvement and evolution mechanism, material selection and application research.

The World Academy of Ceramics was established in 1987 and is committed to promoting the development and interdisciplinary integration of world ceramic sciences.

The elected academicians of the World Academy of Ceramics are all individuals who have made outstanding contributions and achievements in the field of international ceramic science, and are the highest honor in the field of ceramic science.

Since its establishment, the total number of academicians of the World Academy of Ceramics has remained within 200.
