Tianma Microelectronics Co., Ltd. (Tianma) has ordered the YIELDjet EXPLORE inkjet printing system from Kateeva, a US inkjet printing equipment manufacturer, to expand its research and development projects for next-generation OLED displays. Tianma has used Kateeva's YIELDjet FLEX equipment to successfully mass produce OLED mobile phone screens. The new equipment ordered this time is suitable for 200mm glass substrates and will be used in the research and development of various new mobile equipment applications. The inkjet printing system will be shipped to Tianma's Shanghai plant later this year.
Kateeva provides inkjet deposition production equipment solutions for OLED display manufacturers. Kateeva's YIELDjet FLEX system is currently the leading inkjet deposition platform for mass production of organic thin film encapsulation (TFE) layers for OLED mobile phone displays.
Kateeva has developed the YIELDjet EXPLORE tool at its Silicon Valley Innovation Center to provide leaders in the display industry with a trusted system for developing new OLED devices, evaluating advanced materials and testing new processes. The EXPLORE product is based on Kateeva's YIELDjet platform, which is the world's first inkjet printing equipment solution that is built from scratch and can achieve mass production of OLED screens. The first product launched by this platform is the YIELDjet FLEX system, which has become the market leader in the mass production of flexible OLEDs. Since its launch in 2014, the system has produced more than 500 million displays in fabs across Asia. Today, most high-end mobile phone displays are produced by Kateeva's tools.
