China's leading architectural glass supplier has provided a new type of glass product – double SGP laminated high-performance coated profiled insulating glass for Lusail Towers, the landmark building in Qatar.
Lusail Towers, located near Lusail Stadium, as a whole consists of four high-rise buildings. Each tower has an oval bottom elevation. As the building rises, the overall elevation will be distorted by 90 degrees, creating an asymmetric structure.
In the construction of Lusail Towers, LYBB provided 92 pieces of double SGP laminated high-performance coated profiled insulating glass for building curtain wall production.
Building super high-rise buildings in desert areas is usually a huge challenge. In order to cope with the complex and harsh climate, Lusail Towers has put forward higher requirements for curtain wall decorative materials – both high temperature and corrosion resistance, and reduce energy consumption to achieve recycling.
In order to fit the twisted and rising appearance of the tower and ensure the structural safety, LYBB successfully produced the finished glass with curved edges through self-developed new steel bending forming technology.
In the process of R&D and production, the enterprise has achieved a major upgrade of appearance quality on the premise of ensuring product performance by innovating and optimizing the precise cutting of flexible spacer strips and the coating process of butyl rubber. The edge arc curve accuracy of its products can be controlled within 0.5mm, and the relevant technology has reached the world's leading level.
Due to the tight construction period and difficult processing of the project, LYBB organized a special project team at the first time after winning the bid. It took only two months to complete the processing of all the glass. Now 92 special-shaped glasses have been assembled and installed on Lusail Towers, becoming the starting point of the whole building's spiral upward curtain wall system, leading the curtain wall to spiral upward and go straight to the cloud.
