Chinese new energy vehicle manufacturers join hands with special steel manufacturers to jointly develop ultra-high-strength lightweight automotive steels

On March 5th, Dr. Huang Shengchen, Senior Technology Committee Member of the Technical Development and Strategic Planning Department of Weilai Automotive Industry, Ms. Sun Xiaoting, Senior Manager of the Strategic Planning Department, Mr. Jin Tian, Senior Manager of the New Energy Prospective Technology Department, and Dr. Zhang Ling and four others came to Shagang The two parties exchanged ideas on the production technology for the development of ultra-high-strength and lightweight automotive steels. The two parties conducted technical exchanges on the joint development of ultra-high-strength automotive steels and formulated a project implementation plan.

After a day of extensive and in-depth round-table discussions, the two sides reached an 8-point consensus, identified a roadmap, product goals, R & D plans, and time nodes for the development and application of ultra-high-strength steels in automobiles, and established a core team for collaborative research and development. Communication mechanism between the two parties.

It is understood that the ultra-high-strength automotive steels planned for development this time are mainly used to manufacture automobile stabilizer bars, sub-frames and other parts. The strength of the formed parts can reach above 1400M PA, which is difficult to develop and has high technical content. In the next step, Shagang will organize the formulation of new ultra-high-strength steel implementation processes and trial production plans around the manufacturing and use requirements of these parts. The trial-produced products will eventually be evaluated in Weilai Automobile's related technologies, and mass industrial production will be promoted.
