Chinese researchers successfully developed graphene aerogel

Graphene aerogel, researched and developed by researchers at Zhejiang University in China, is currently known as one of the lowest-density substances on earth. It is a foam-like solid material that retains a fixed shape despite being almost as light as air. Some aerogels are only three times denser than air, but usually aerogels are 15 times heavier than air.

 

You might think that gel is a wet substance like hair spray. In fact, aerogels are made by removing liquid from the gel. Except for 90% to 99% of the air, all that remains is the silica structure. Aerogels have almost no weight, but can be stretched into thin aerogel fabrics. In the construction project, aerogel fabric has the characteristics of "super heat insulation", and its porous structure makes it difficult to pass heat. Tests have shown that the thermal insulation capacity of aerogel fabric is 2 to 4 times that of traditional fiberglass or foam insulation materials. Once the price is moderate, it can be widely used in construction.
