The TFT liquid crystal glass substrate is the core component of the liquid crystal display panel and represents the highest level in the global modern glass manufacturing field. However, for a long time, the core technology of the 8.5 generation TFT liquid crystal glass substrate required by China has been completely monopolized by foreign countries, which has become a problem that seriously restricts the development of China's display industry.

In 2016, Peng Shou, the technical director of the Chinese special glass manufacturer AHKS Glass Technology Group, led the team to tackle high-generation liquid crystal glass substrates, thousands of formulation tests, consecutive days and nights of research, countless efforts and sweat, in exchange for Achievements that attracted worldwide attention: On September 18, 2019, China’s first independently developed 8.5-generation TFT-LCD glass substrate was rolled off the assembly line in Bengbu. It took only 70 days from ignition and production to successful lead-out, creating a high-generation of independent production "Chinese speed" of liquid crystal glass substrates. Opening up a new era of “Made in China” for high-generation liquid crystal glass substrates, making China one of the few countries after the United States and Japan that has mastered the core technology and key equipment of high-generation liquid crystal glass substrates, which is of great significance for ensuring the safety of China’s information display industry .

In addition, the AHKS technology development team also participated in the development of several other special glasses: 0.12 mm ultra-thin electronic touch glass, copper indium gallium selenium thin film solar power glass and cadmium telluride weak light power glass.

In September 2017, AHKS produced the world's first large-area cadmium telluride thin-film low-light power glass, marking China's mastery of the world's leading large-area cadmium telluride power glass core technology;

In October 2017, the first copper-indium-gallium-selenium thin-film solar module in China successfully rolled off the assembly line, signifying that AHKS has opened up China's solar photovoltaic industry chain across the board. Today, the photoelectric conversion rate of copper indium gallium selenium thin film solar cells has reached 19%, which is in a leading position in the world;

In April 2018, the world's thinnest 0.12 mm float flexible touch glass with China's independent core technology came out, and large-scale continuous production was achieved.

AHKS attaches great importance to the construction of scientific research platforms and the industrialization of technological achievements. In recent years, AHKS has built more than a dozen national-level innovation platforms such as the State Key Laboratory of New Technologies for Float Glass, the National and Local Joint Engineering Research Center for Glass Energy Saving Technologies, and the National Demonstration International Science and Technology Cooperation Base. The R&D Center, the State Key Laboratory of New Technologies for Float Glass and other R&D centers at home and abroad have created an innovative team of 100 PhDs.
