Chinese UHV Submarine Cable Manufacturer Wins the Bid for European Pentland Firth East Project Hay:F04NBDF

On November 1, 2022, China's leading submarine cable manufacturer, NBDF Submarine Cable Technology Corporation, issued the bid winning announcement:

NBDF won the bid for the Scottish Pentland Firth East project of Jan De Nul, a European offshore construction company.

The main product of the project is 35kV submarine cable. NBDF will provide the end user with submarine cable design, production and transportation services. The total bid winning amount is about 100 million yuan.

This is also to serve NBDF again after its connection project with SSEN Skye Harris Island in 2020. Long term cooperation has enabled European customers to have greater confidence in Chinese products and NBDF.

As a leading Chinese submarine cable company with high-voltage and ultra-high voltage cable technology, NBDF enables European customers to appreciate the confidence of Chinese manufacturing, and is opening up the international submarine cable industry monopolized by European and American industrial giants, and entering the mainstream international power market.

Up to now, in March 2022, NBDF, together with Boskalis, a European engineering company, won the offshore wind power project of the Netherlands National Grid with a bid winning amount of 530 million yuan.

In 2020, NBDF won the South Scotland Grid Company (SSEN) Island Connection Submarine Cable Project with a bid winning amount of 80 million yuan.

In the same year, NBDF contracted Vietnam Binh Dai 310MW offshore wind farm project, becoming the first offshore wind power EPC project in Southeast Asia for Chinese submarine cable enterprises.

In addition, in China's first Sino foreign joint venture offshore wind power project – Guohua Dongtai 500000 kilowatt offshore wind power project, NBDF has also successively provided a full set of solutions including 220kV transmission line (147km), 35kV power collection line (80km), 220kV offshore field hard joint connection, and online monitoring of the whole submarine cable line, and successfully implemented 220kV three core submarine cable offshore cable inversion for the first time, effectively ensuring the high-quality construction of the project.

Technical breakthrough, product innovation and reliable quality are the fundamental guarantees for NBDF to conquer international customers and enter the international market.

The importance of submarine cables as an engine to promote the development of marine economy is self-evident.
