Clariant launches a high-performance specialty resin based on aliphatic polyketone colored compounds and concentrated masterbatches

Recently, Clariant has launched a high-performance specialty resin—colored compounds based on aliphatic polyketones and concentrated masterbatches. According to official Clariant sources, they are the first company to offer standard color polyketone products. More standard color products will be added to the series one after another, and color customization is also accepted. There are 12 colors to choose from in the North American market.

According to the company, the colored polyketone products launched this time are part of Clariant's engineering resin and high-temperature engineering plastic product series, and Clariant is continuously adding new products to this series. This series of products can be used in automobile manufacturing, and can also be applied to other occasions that require high melting point, impact resistance, friction, corrosion resistance, and dissolved materials.

Aliphatic polyketone products were first introduced to the market by Shell Chemicals under the "Carilon" trademark. Shell discontinued production of the product in 2000, and production resumed after the Korean Hyosung Group began selling similar materials to North America through Polysource LLC in 2014.

Polysource LLC officially describes that polyketone products have acetal's anti-moisture and anti-friction properties, nylon 6's high temperature resistance, and nearly 10 times the solvent resistance of nylon 12.

Clariant International is headquartered in Switzerland, and the North American branch is headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina. Clariant has invested millions of dollars in polyketone-based compounds, concentrates and other specialty resins to expand production. Its products include polyetheretherketone (PEEK), polyphenylene ether (PPO), and polyphenylene sulfide (PPS). .
