Continental won two awards in the automotive and parts industry

Continental won the 2019 Technology Innovation Award of China's automotive and parts industry for its low-odor PVC surface material. At the same time, Dr. Yu Zhaoxia, technical director of ContiTech's China division of Continental, won the "Automotive Innovation Leader Award" for his many years of R & D experience and outstanding leadership in the field of materials.

Industry-leading low-odor surface material won the "Technology Innovation Award": odor level is less than or equal to 2.5, which meets high standards

According to the data analysis of J.D power, an authoritative automobile industry research institute in 2015-2018, heavy odor in the car is one of the most major complaints received by the Chinese automotive aftermarket. On average, odor complaints account for 16 of every 100 customer complaints. In recent years, the problem of odor has also attracted more and more attention from Chinese car manufacturers, and interior materials are considered to be the main source of odor in the car. As the market demands for odor-related automotive components increase, more and more Chinese manufacturers have also increased their standards for automotive component odors.

In response to the car odor problem that is generally concerned in the Chinese market, a German luxury car manufacturer asked Continental to increase the odor level of its interior PVC material from VDA270 C3 to 3.0 or less (with easily identifiable odors) to 2.5 or less (slightly Smell, almost unrecognizable). At present, the existing PVC products in the market cannot meet the customer's requirements. Based on the team's rich odor improvement experience, the Continental China technical team developed a low-odor PVC surface material, which is an upgraded product that can reduce the odor of automotive interiors, through the reorganization of low-odor PVC leather formula. The odor expert assessed that the odor level met the requirements and became one of the highest standard surface materials used in the German luxury car brand applications. Continental Group successfully won the order of PVC materials for the German luxury car brand in the next two years. In addition, this low-odor PVC surface material also meets existing product specifications such as high abrasion resistance and low fogging, and has attracted the attention and recognition of other Chinese car manufacturers.
