Corning launches Corning® Gorilla® Glass Victus™, the toughest Gorilla Glass yet to remain intact after a 2-meter drop

Corning announced yesterday its latest breakthrough in glass technology: Corning® Gorilla® Glass Victus™. Continuing the company's more than ten-year tradition of providing tough device glass for mobile phones, laptops, tablets and wearable devices, the birth of Gorilla Glass Victus can bring consumers and mobile phone manufacturers significantly better than other brand competitors The drop and scratch resistance of aluminum silicate glass.

"Corning's extensive consumer research data shows that the improvement of anti-drop and anti-scratch performance is the key factor for consumers to make purchase decisions," said Corning Senior Vice President and General Manager of Mobile Consumer Electronics Market Business Group Mr. John Bayne .

In the three largest smartphone markets in the world, China, India, and the United States, durability is the second most important consideration when people buy smartphones, second only to mobile phone brands. Compared with screen size, camera configuration and device thickness, consumers value durability twice as much as other features, and are more willing to pay extra for improving device durability. In addition, Corning analyzed the feedback of more than 90,000 consumers, and the results showed that people's emphasis on anti-drop and anti-scratch performance has almost doubled in seven years.

"A drop of a mobile phone may cause damage. With the improvement of our glass technology, the mobile phone can withstand more drops, but it is impossible to avoid more obvious scratches, which affects the usability of the device," said Mr. Bayne. "Unlike the previous practice that required our technicians to focus on improving the single performance of drop resistance or scratch resistance, this time we are committed to improving both performances at the same time, so Gorilla Glass Victus was born."

In laboratory tests, Gorilla Glass Victus can be dropped from a height of up to 2 meters to a hard and rough surface and remain intact, while competing aluminosilicate glass of other brands is usually damaged when dropped from a height of less than 0.8 meters. In addition, the scratch resistance of Gorilla Glass Victus is two times higher than Corning's sixth-generation Gorilla Glass, and four times higher than competing aluminum silicate glass.

Currently, more than 45 major brands and more than 8 billion devices use Gorilla Glass. With market-leading cover glass and glass and optical components used in semiconductor products, Corning continues the tradition of innovation in the mobile consumer electronics (MCE) market access platform, continuously improving performance, expanding new features, facilitating new designs, and Bring users an immersive experience in the field of augmented reality and 3D sensing.

Samsung will soon become the first mobile phone manufacturer to use Gorilla Glass Victus.
