Covestro expands polycarbonate film production in Germany

Covestro has begun building more high-quality polycarbonate film production lines at its Domagan plant.

The new coextrusion production line is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2020 and will meet growing demand. Under the current plan, more than 50 new jobs will be created.

The new production line is designed to produce multilayer flat films. For example, these products play an important role in identity documents to embed security features and ensure the best protection against counterfeiting. They are also used in automotive interiors.

Another new production line is currently under construction in the Map Ta Phut Industrial Zone in Thailand, while the transformation of a co-extrusion production line in Guangzhou, China is in progress, and the first products are being delivered to customers. There, new film facilities will also be established later. Film production capacity in South Deerfield, USA has been expanded and changed to operate around the clock. This created 30 new jobs and Covestro equipped the production line with the latest technology.
