CRRC developed China’s first high-power marine permanent magnet generator

The first domestically-made large-scale oil-electric hybrid coastal sightseeing ship "Greater Bay Area One" equipped with a 2MW permanent magnet generator for the ship's DC network of CRRC Zhuzhou Electric Company was successfully delivered. This project is a successful combination of CRRC and China Merchants Group, setting a global precedent for the use of permanent magnet synchronous generators in ships.

This time, a fully enclosed structure motor is used in the overall design of the permanent magnet generator. A new type of rotor cooling structure and a titanium alloy air-water cooler have been developed to solve the heat dissipation problem of the high-power permanent magnet generator with an efficiency greater than 97%. Compared with the traditional excitation synchronous generator, the volume is reduced by 30%, and the weight is reduced by 35%. It has the advantages of simple structure, high efficiency, high reliability, and low maintenance. The overall technical indicators of the generator have reached the international advanced level.

At the same time, CRRC's DC grid electric propulsion system solution has the entire ecological chain from chip, equipment to system autonomously controllable; permanent magnet drive is more efficient and energy-saving; electric/battery hybrid power meets green emissions and a comfortable and quiet experience.

Previously, high-end ship large-capacity generators have been monopolized by international giants such as ABB and Siemens. CRRC Zhuzhou Electric has developed my country's first high-power marine permanent magnet generator, which fills the gap in domestic technical research in this field. It can be widely used in inland passenger and cargo ships, engineering ships, luxury marine cruise ships, official ships, and offshore engineering ships.

It is understood that on the morning of August 20, after a four-day sea trip, "Greater Bay Area One" successfully arrived at the home port of Shenzhen Shekou cruise ship. The megawatt permanent magnet generator provided by CRRC Zhuzhou Electric performed well in the sea trial, providing a stable power output for the entire ship, and the ship reached the "zero emission, zero pollution, and ultra-low noise" standard. The cruise ship has a capacity of 350 passengers. The ship is equipped with exhibition halls, technology stores, theaters, etc. The exhibition hall is the first in the field of ship construction and mainly showcases the achievements of Shenzhen since the reform and opening up. "Greater Bay Area One" is expected to officially operate on August 29.
