Daimler purchases batteries from Chinese power lithium-ion battery maker Farasis Energy

Daimler Group announced that the company has reached an agreement with Farasis Energy to purchase lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles from the latter. Farasis Energy Technology is building a plant in eastern Germany to help Mercedes-Benz increase its electric car production capacity.

Markus Schaefer, member of the Daimler Group's board of directors responsible for researching Mercedes-Benz car development, said that lithium-ion batteries produced by Farasis Energy Technology are relatively safe. To increase battery energy density. The new plant will have production capacity of several million megawatts and will supply batteries for Daimler's vehicle production plants in Carmenz, Brewer and Sindelfingen, Germany.

In addition, in the production process, the factory uses renewable energy to provide energy for battery production. Farasis Energy Technology has stated that they will invest 600 million euros (about 4.7 billion yuan) in the construction of a new plant.

Previously, Farasis Energy Technology has passed Daimler technology certification and successfully entered the Daimler supplier system. In 2018, Daimler stated that it will buy more than 20 billion euros (about 156.7 billion yuan) of batteries by 2030, but did not specify which suppliers to purchase batteries from.

Farasis Energy Technology has stated that it has received orders from related companies for more than 10 billion euros. Due to the confidentiality agreement between the two parties, the company name will not be announced for the time being.

Daimler also proposed a “carbon neutral” production target at the 2019 Frankfurt International Auto Show. By 2030, new energy models will account for more than 50% of passenger car sales.

In order to promote the realization of this goal as soon as possible, Daimler has cooperated with multiple partners. In February 2018, Daimler and BAIC Group invested a total of 11.9 billion yuan to establish a production base and expand production capacity. Production includes new energy Several new Mercedes-Benz models including cars. In addition, the joint venture brand of Daimler and BYD Tengshi will also launch new plug-in hybrid vehicles and pure electric models.

In May 2019, Daimler passed a plan called "Ambition 2039", hoping to produce all passenger car products in a carbon neutral manner within the next 20 years. Mercedes-Benz is currently working to ensure that some of the batteries used in vehicles are derived from 100% renewable energy.

Farasis Energy Technology is a lithium ion battery technology developer and supplier based in China. The company has R & D centers in China, Germany and the United States. They also have two factories in China, located in Ganzhou, Jiangxi and Zhenjiang, Jiangsu.
